We had originally planned to be in South Dakota for a month or longer, but with the news of our new rig being ready sooner than we thought, we were too excited and didn’t want to wait any longer! We quickly made plans to make our way to Spokane, Washington!
We had no idea the luck we would run into with leaving on the Saturday morning of February 19, 2022… that very night a snow storm came into Rapid City, where we were staying! Temperatures are expected to be dropping down into negative 20 degrees! With a high of negative 1!! We definitely were not prepared for such weather! The RV park security guy came by to chat with Mike, wanted to warn us that we really should have some RV skirts put on as the storm will likely freeze our water pipes and we’d likely be out of water without blocking the cold out. Luckily for us, we left right on time. We didn’t plan this because of this unexpected storm, but thankfully it was perfect timing!

First days drive took us to Greycliff Mills, Montana. It was about a 7 hour drive. We had great weather, a bit windy but nothing that was concerning. We boon-docked at this Harvest Host location for the night. It was a very windy night. We had winds up to 30mph. It almost felt like an earthquake with the RV rocking as much as it did at times. With lots of mini after-shocks. Kinda reminded us of our very first night exactly one year ago! It was very windy in Quartzsite last year. We were out by the fire and the winds sent us into the RV earlier than we had hopped last yar. This year, we spent the night of our one year adventures anniversary relaxed and curled up on the couch under our nice and warm alpaca blanket, watching motocross and enjoying some delicious custard we got at Culver’s burgers place back in SD.

All rested up from day one and ready to hit the road early the next morning! We made our way from Montana, passing through Idaho and arriving into Washington! Our first leg of the trip we ran into a tiny snow, but it wasn’t bad at all. We knew coming into the drive that it may be a stormy one… but we said we’d drive as much as we can and pull over if we need to. Thankfully the rest of our trip the weather was nice to us. We had a little but of sunny skies which really had us hopeful, right before we ran into a bit of snow storm as we climbed up the mountain. At one point of our drive, the clouds & the sky were dark and grey… the mountains, full of snow covered trees hiding in the dark shadows in the background, really made it feel like we were driving through a black and white movie scene. It was mesmerizing. There is so much beauty all around, and we are so happy we’ve chosen this life to go and explore it all!

We made it to Northern Quest RV & Casino Resort, with an hour of our time back with the time change! We will be here for just 2 weeks. A quick two weeks…packing packing packing before we move into our new home soon!
