Family time in San Jose, CA

As the holidays are approaching we are making our way down to Southern CA to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with Family! Our time here has been short and sweet and has made my heart so full.

We are staying at Coyote Valley RV Park. Arriving into San Jose felt like home to me. As a child we came here often. My dad always made it a point for us to be close to his side of the family even though they were so many miles away. Lots of summers and winter breaks were spent with my family up north here and it had been so great to be back and feeling so welcomed by all my family. We kicked off our first night at my cousin Anthony’s for dinner with a few aunties, uncles & cousins! Great way to kick off our stay!

Per usual we have to work Mon-Fri but with family being so close, I was able to sneak over to my Pretty Auntie Maggie’s house one weeknight and she taught me how to make her yummy Wonton Soup! I am definitely not someone you’ll find in the kitchen often, but when given the opportunity to learn how to make one of my favorite meals, I’m all in! She kept things so simple for me, I think I might be able to do this alone, I’ll have to test myself soon! We made so much, I’ve been enjoying Wontons for lunch daily! My tummy is happy! Thank you Aunt Maggie for teaching me your tricks in the kitchen! She also taught my how to make Egg Tarts! Yum!

Friday night we went out to dinner with my Aunt Ha & Lana! It was so good to see them. We originally were trying to get into a super cute restaurant, Ambrose Butchery, that my aunt suggested but it was so busy and the wait would have been too long, so this may be a destination for us to try next time! Instead we met up at an Italian restaurant, Tomatina, for dinner and chatted the night away. Lana is so sweet and silly. She’s in both swimming and tennis for after school programs, so I’m sure my Aunt Ha is keeping busy busy with work and all Lana’a activities. So thankful she was able to make some time to see us. We love you Aunt Ha & Lana, thank you for making time in your busy days for us!

We spent a day driving up to San Fransisco! This was a super last minute trip. My Uncle Tan & Aunt Jenny took us to Muir Woods National Monument. We wanted to go on a hike before meeting up with my Auntie Venny who lives up in SF. Unfortunately, because it was so last minute, we did not have a reservation and we’re unable to park up top near all the trails. We were however, able to pull into Muir Beach Overlook and wow what a beautiful site! There was a small walking trail that we stumbled on. We hiked a very short hike and then made our way to see my Auntie for lunch. Japan town is where we ended up for the day! Such a cute little town with cute shops everywhere. We had some ramen/udon for lunch, shopped around had some ice cream! Thank you Uncle Tan for taking us to explore, and thank you to Auntie Venny for lunch and showing us around SF for the day!

Sundays are made for family! Uncle Tan took us to visit my Grandma and Grandpa’s grave before heading over to Aunt Maggie’s for a family potluck. Boy do I love potlucks! Thank you to all my Aunties & Uncles for making time and coming to spoil me with your delicious meals! Thai family definitely has some talent in the kitchen, my tummy was very happy and very full almost immediately after arriving! Of course I spoiled them with my cheesecake! I made a cinnamon graham cracker crust and another with Oreo crust! One of my favorite desserts to make, and it’s always a crowd pleaser! A full day of catching up, telling stories and connecting with family. My heart is so happy. Only thing is, I was too busy having fun, I failed to take any photos with everyone!

Weekdays here have been quiet. We found a box, CrossFit Brethren! Went a couple times last week and a few times this second week. I love that we are getting fitness in while we’re on the road. It’s so important for us to have a little bit of a routine when everything else is always up in the air and changing. I can’t wait to get back to my home box and see everyone! Lookout CFT, I’m coming your way! Oh, and we finally got some In n Out! It’s been 6 very long months! Nothing better than a cheeseburger animal style after a long workout!

We also enjoyed a bike ride at the trail right behind our RV park. We saw some horses along the trail. I stopped to take photos of these beautiful horsies and they slowly approached me and I was got to pet a few of them!

Last couple days here were definitely well spent with family. We had a bowling night with Anthony and met a couple of his awesome friends. Mike and Anthony chatted a bunch over dirt bikes and riding. It’s sparking Mike’s interest back up I’m sure, I wonder if/when he’ll finally want to get us on a couple of dirt bikes! I’m definitely missing riding, hopefully soon! Oh, and my cousin, Jackie got engaged!! We had such a fun night sharing engagement stories over an Anthony’s after bowling.

Our last day here was a memorable one. Started the morning off with little miss Avery visiting and checking out our trailer. She’s so stinking cute! Anthony & Linda joined us and a few others for Dim Sum before we headed out to visit my Uncle Tim at Skylawn Memorial. We stopped by at Half Moon Bay for a quick little stroll down the beautiful beach before making our way to visit my Uncle. Aunt Ha and Lana met us there. It was so sweet to spend a bit more time with my little cousin, Lana. We got to learn a bit more about her and her interest. Just like her daddy, she enjoys swimming, tennis and skiing! She helps her mom water daddy’s vegetable garden from time to time when mommy’s too busy. Uncle Tim, I miss you so much. We had a really nice visit today ❤️

With our stay here coming to an end… we’ve already started to pack our things up and get ready to hit the road tomorrow! We’re circling back to Orange County. Our adventures are taking us home for the holidays! We are excited and looking forward to spending some quality time with family over the next couple of months and throughout the holidays! Can’t wait to see everyone! San Jose/Morgan Hill, thank you for a beautiful two weeks! Until next time…
