We are all moved in, but now it’s time to make it feel more like home!
What makes a space more like home? For me, its the comforts of the little things around you that help make your everyday, your best day! There are minor little differences between those comforts in an apartment/house 🏠 vs in an RV 🚎, but nothing that we haven’t been able to figure out yet. Sharing with you guys today a short list of things we’ve been working on at home.
Water!🚰 One of the most essential things, if not the most essential. We’ve had to shut off the water on many occasions while getting things hooked up and working, and that itself is an adventure of its own. You really don’t notice or really ever think about how often you use water. Ever try cooking dinner 🍽 with the water turned on? It’s not an easy task, but somehow, I pulled it off one night! haha I just used drinking water that I had already filtered before the water shut off. Other times the water has been shut off is while I’m in the middle of hand washing laundry! Luckily, we timed it so the clothes can soak, while the water is off. It’s the little things we have to consider to get by. Having the water shut off on you sucks, but its all been so worth it with all the things Mike’s been upgrading for us!
We got the Bidet 🚽 set up in after many trips to the Lowe’s just right around the corner from home. Mike had to go back so many times, I think he made a couple friends with the Lowe’s employees haha! He was definitely determined to get the Bidet hooked up! Can I just say, if you don’t have one, you’re missing out and definitely should own one, it will change your life! 🙃The toilets in RVs are very different than the toilets we have at home. The way the water is connected and the way it flushes; so Mike had to make some tweaks to get the Bidet connected and working. So happy now that he has completed that project!! 💩
Our water filter system has been upgraded, yay! We use Zero Water filters for our drinking water. Usually we have to change out the filters once a month or so, but lately its been almost every week! It’s getting expensive, fast! So I’m hoping with this new water filter system installed we’ll get better water and our filter will last longer. We may need to figure out another solution if this doesn’t resolve it. These little things you don’t really think about until you get on board and learn. Crossing my fingers 🤞🏻 that this new filter is good enough that it wont go through our filters in just 1 week! If anyone has recommendations, please comment!
We got the washer/dryer hooked up in the garage! Each project that gets worked on always seems like it will be straight forward and easy, but it seems each project has mini projects all in its own way. We found leaks left and right as we were trying to get things installed. It was a simple plug & play with the Washer/Dryer combo….until Mike tried out the first load 🧺 and found the carpet was soaked during the Rinse/Spin cycle. We found a leak in the pipe for the unit behind the walls in the rig. After a couple trial and errors, Mike figured out what needed to be replaced and now we are good to go! After just doing 2-3 weeks worth of laundry by hand, I am so thankful for this! It takes 3-4 hours each load! I believe it’s because we have a ventless dryer. 🤷🏻♀️ But, still beats me having to get down and dirty scrubbing away! The entire RV shakes when its on spin cycle, gotta get used to these mini earthquakes on laundry days.
We also have been struggling a bit with our internet. We aren’t quite sure what is going on with our unlimited internet set up that Mike figured out for us. So in the meantime we have opened up a new line and got a HotSpot for us to be able to have a backup for work 💻. This has been a lifesaver for me! We also paid for the RV Park Wifi, and have access to the free wifi here as well. Not to mention we could also hotspot from Mike’s phone 📲. So needless to say we have backups on backup on backups for internet. We said before that if we cannot work, then we can’t continue on this adventure, and I’m definitely not ready for it to end, so I’m hopeful for better internet in the days ahead! So thankful for Mike and his dedication to researching and fixing all the things for us, all the time. Thanks husband! 🥰 I know we’ll figure out a way to keep our journey going. Internet, you will not defeat us…we will keep trying!
Direct TV 📺 makes a satellite just for nomads like us on the road, so of course we got a satellite set up this week. We figured if the internet is not working so well, we don’t want to take up additional bandwidth by using it for our TV viewing services. Not sure how to use the DVR yet haha but, I’m sure when I’m desperate enough, I will learn.
That pretty much wraps up most of the projects that Mike has been working on. I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting to mention. But we are definitely settling in and learning a lot.
